JOB OVERVIEW
A leading global multinational company in the semiconductor industry is looking for an experienced and motivated Technician Coach to join its manufacturing operations team in East Singapore.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in manufacturing, production, cleanroom operations, electronics, precision engineering, technical operations, or other related environments. The successful candidate will play an important role in developing employees, improving operational competency, maintaining high safety and quality standards, and supporting new hires as they transition into their roles.
The Technician Coach will be responsible for conducting practical, hands-on training and coaching employees in a structured manufacturing environment. You will work closely with line leaders, production teams, and other stakeholders to identify training requirements, close competency gaps, and ensure employees are properly trained before performing assigned operations independently.
The position operates on a 5-day Monday-to-Friday schedule with rotating shifts and offers a salary of up to S$3,600 per month, together with company transport and training opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Training & Coaching
Conduct hands-on On-the-Job Training (OJT) for new and existing employees.
Provide practical coaching on manufacturing processes and production activities.
Train employees on workmanship standards, safety requirements, quality expectations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Explain manufacturing procedures clearly and ensure employees understand the correct operating methods.
Demonstrate proper equipment, process, and workplace practices.
Observe employees during practical training and provide constructive feedback.
Guide employees through the required competency milestones.
Reinforce correct working methods and help employees build confidence in their assigned duties.
Provide additional coaching to employees who require further support or development.
Ensure employees receive appropriate guidance before working independently.
Competency Assessment
Assess employee knowledge, practical skills, and overall competency.
Identify individual skill gaps and areas requiring improvement.
Conduct competency checks and practical assessments where required.
Monitor employee progress throughout the training period.
Maintain appropriate training and competency records.
Provide feedback to line leaders regarding employee development.
Recommend additional training or coaching when competency requirements have not been achieved.
Support employees in reaching required performance and competency standards.
New Hire Development
Support the onboarding and training of new employees.
Help new hires understand manufacturing processes, workplace expectations, safety requirements, and quality standards.
Provide structured coaching to accelerate Time to Contribution (TTC).
Ensure new employees understand their responsibilities before moving into independent operations.
Work across multiple business units to support training requirements.
Monitor new-hire progress and highlight potential issues to the relevant line leaders.
Help new employees adapt to the cleanroom and manufacturing environment.
Safety & Quality
Promote a strong culture of workplace safety.
Ensure employees understand and follow safety procedures.
Reinforce compliance with manufacturing and cleanroom requirements.
Coach employees on correct handling, workmanship, and operational practices.
Support quality improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
Participate in observations, audits, and competency reviews.
Identify unsafe or incorrect practices and provide immediate coaching where appropriate.
Encourage employees to maintain high standards of quality and operational discipline.
Support continuous improvement activities related to training, safety, and manufacturing performance.
Collaboration & Operations
Work closely with production supervisors, line leaders, technicians, and other operational stakeholders.
Understand operational requirements and translate them into effective training activities.
Collaborate with line leaders to identify training priorities.
Develop or support training and development plans based on employee competency requirements.
Provide regular updates on training progress and employee performance.
Assist in maintaining consistency of training standards across different business units.
Support operational excellence initiatives.
Contribute ideas for improving training methods, employee competency, and workplace performance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The successful candidate will work in a professional cleanroom manufacturing environment within the semiconductor industry.
The role requires strict adherence to safety, quality, process, and cleanliness requirements. Candidates should be comfortable working in a structured manufacturing environment and following detailed procedures.
You may be required to wear appropriate cleanroom attire and follow established cleanroom protocols. Attention to detail, discipline, teamwork, and a strong commitment to safety and quality are essential.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
Diploma, NITEC, Higher NITEC, ITE qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
Background in Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical Operations, Production, Electronics, Precision Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, production, cleanroom operations, electronics, precision engineering, or a related operational environment.
Practical experience in a manufacturing or technical environment.
Experience providing training, coaching, mentoring, or OJT is advantageous.
Ability to communicate instructions clearly and effectively.
Strong interpersonal and coaching skills.
Ability to assess employee competency and identify skill gaps.
Good understanding of workplace safety and quality requirements.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to follow and explain SOPs and work instructions.
Able to work effectively with employees from different backgrounds and experience levels.
Comfortable working in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
Willing to work Monday to Friday on an 8.5-hour rotating shift.
Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
Positive attitude with a strong interest in employee development and operational excellence.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
The ideal candidate is someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent coaching and communication abilities.
You should be comfortable demonstrating processes, observing employee performance, providing feedback, and helping individuals improve their practical skills. Experience in a semiconductor, electronics, precision engineering, or other highly structured manufacturing environment will be highly relevant.
Candidates who have previously worked as a technician, senior technician, production specialist, manufacturing trainer, process trainer, technical trainer, line leader, or similar operational role may be well suited for this opportunity.
A strong safety mindset and commitment to quality are essential. You should also be proactive in identifying problems, supporting employees, and working with operational leaders to achieve training and competency targets.
