AV Safety Operator — 1-Year Contract

JOB OVERVIEW
We are looking for a responsible and safety-conscious AV Safety Operator to support autonomous vehicle operations in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring autonomous vehicle systems during test drives and ensuring that the vehicle operates safely under different road and environmental conditions.
This role requires a high level of concentration, strong driving skills, good judgement, and the ability to respond quickly when manual intervention is required. The AV Safety Operator will work closely with field teams, technical staff, and operational support teams to monitor vehicle performance, identify potential issues, and report abnormalities accurately.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor autonomous vehicle systems throughout vehicle operations and test drives.
Observe vehicle behaviour and ensure that the vehicle responds appropriately to road conditions, traffic situations, pedestrians, surrounding vehicles, and other environmental factors.
Monitor system alerts, warnings, vehicle performance, and operational status during each test drive.
Maintain a high level of alertness and concentration throughout the entire driving and testing period.
Take manual control of the vehicle when necessary to prevent unsafe situations and ensure the safety of passengers, road users, pedestrians, and other road users.
Be prepared to respond immediately to unexpected vehicle behaviour, system failures, road hazards, traffic conditions, or other operational situations.
Conduct detailed pre-drive vehicle checks before starting each test operation.
Conduct post-drive inspections and report any issues, abnormalities, damage, or system concerns identified after the test drive.
Verify that the vehicle is ready and safe for operation before each assigned test session.
Communicate effectively with field teams, technical teams, engineers, and support staff regarding vehicle operations and safety concerns.
Report system irregularities, vehicle malfunctions, unexpected behaviour, and other operational issues to the relevant technical team.
Document test drive results, vehicle performance, system alerts, incidents, and other relevant information accurately.
Maintain proper records and provide clear reports regarding any anomalies or unusual events observed during operations.
Act as a first responder in situations involving vehicle malfunction or unexpected operational behaviour.
Follow all safety procedures, operational instructions, testing protocols, and company guidelines.
Support technical and operational teams during autonomous vehicle testing and related activities.
Assist with troubleshooting and operational investigations when required.
Maintain professional communication with team members and follow instructions from supervisors and operational leads.
Perform other ad hoc duties and operational tasks as assigned by the company.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must possess a valid Singapore Class 3 driving licence.
Minimum 3 years of driving experience is required.
Applicants should have a clean driving record and demonstrate responsible driving behaviour.
Experience with defensive driving techniques is advantageous, particularly knowledge of hazard anticipation, accident prevention, and safe driving practices.
Candidates with a basic understanding of vehicle systems, automotive technology, advanced driver-assistance systems, or autonomous vehicle technology will have an advantage.
Must be able to remain focused, attentive, and alert for extended periods during vehicle testing operations.
Good observation skills and the ability to identify potential safety risks are important for this position.
Good communication skills are required to communicate effectively with field teams, technical personnel, and supervisors.
Good written and reporting skills are required for documenting test results, incidents, vehicle behaviour, and system abnormalities.
Candidates must be able to react calmly and appropriately during unexpected situations.
Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safety is essential.
Applicants must be willing to undergo a driving skills assessment to evaluate their ability to safely take manual control of the vehicle when required during autonomous vehicle operations.
Must be comfortable working in a testing and technology-driven environment.
Must be willing to follow operational procedures and safety requirements at all times.
Candidates must be willing to work flexible working hours, including shift work, weekends, and public holidays when required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The AV Safety Operator will be involved in autonomous vehicle testing and monitoring activities. The role requires extended periods of attention while the vehicle is operating and may involve different road conditions, traffic situations, weather conditions, and testing environments.
The successful candidate must be able to remain calm and focused while monitoring vehicle operations and must be prepared to intervene manually whenever required for safety reasons.
SAFETY AND OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety is a key responsibility of this position. The AV Safety Operator must continuously monitor the vehicle and surrounding environment and be ready to respond to potential hazards.
All vehicle testing activities must be carried out according to established safety procedures and operational guidelines. Any unusual vehicle behaviour, system warning, malfunction, or safety concern must be reported promptly to the appropriate technical or operational team.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate responsible driving behaviour and maintain a high standard of professionalism throughout all assigned operations.
